What is the CEC Program?

The Canadian Experience Class is one of three federal economic immigration programs managed through Express Entry. It's designed for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.

For Canadian Workers
Designed for skilled workers who already have at least 1 year of Canadian work experience in skilled occupations.
Express Entry System
Managed through the Express Entry system with regular draws that often favor candidates with Canadian experience.
Permanent Residence
Successful applicants receive permanent resident status and can continue living and working anywhere in Canada.

Qualifying Work Experience

Your Canadian work experience must be in skilled occupations classified under NOC skill levels 0, A, or B.

Work Experience Requirements

Your work experience must be gained while you were authorized to work in Canada (with a valid work permit). Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student don't count toward the minimum requirements.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the CEC program, you must meet all minimum requirements. There is no points-based selection system for minimum eligibility.

Canadian Work Experience
At least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada in the 3 years before you apply (full-time or equivalent part-time)
Language Proficiency
Minimum CLB 7 for TEER 0 or TEER 1 jobs, CLB 5 for TEER 2 or TEER 3 jobs in English and/or French in all four language abilities
Skilled Work Experience
Work experience must be in TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, or TEER 3 (managerial, professional, technical, or skilled trades)
Legal Status in Canada
Must have been authorized to work in Canada during the period of qualifying work experience
Plan to Live Outside Quebec
Must intend to live in a province or territory other than Quebec
Admissibility
Must be admissible to Canada (no criminal record, medical clearance, etc.)
